The Week of Pentecost
Dear St. Stephen’s church family,
Greetings in Christ!
Some parish news:
1. This Sunday is the feast of Pentecost
and we are blessed to have Bonnie’s granddaughter with us on Sunday to sing the Lord’s Prayer in the Cree language. We also are having a VBS meeting after the service on Sunday, for all interested volunteers and helpers.
2. The Refresh committee
has been busy planning to paint the stucco on the church. We are tentatively looking at Friday and Saturday, June 21st and 22nd as our painting days, and will be asking for help in getting this job done! Mark your calendars and consider whether you can take a few hours on either (or both!) days to help refresh the building! Stay tuned for more details.
3. Youth Group
year end BBQ at Amy’s on Friday night, weather permitting. If it’s not nice out, we’ll meet at church. 5:15-9.
4. English Conversation Circles
will finish up on Tuesday, June 11th. Thank you to everybody who helped to make this pilot project a success! If you volunteered during the year, you are invited for a social time in Amy’s backyard, weather permitting! 😊 following the last Conversation circle, at 8:45 pm.
5. Deanery Council
meets at St. Stephen’s on June 12th at 7 pm. This meeting is for all Synod delegates and there will be an election to Diocesan Council at this meeting, where 2 lay and 2 clergy delegates will be selected to serve in this way.
6. The Prairie Centre for Ecumenism
is hosting a Wine and Cheese and information event at St. Stephen’s on Saturday, June 15th. Consider supporting the work of the PCE as they seek to build bridges and unite Christians across denominations. Talk to Cathryn for tickets or information or see the bulletin board or PCE website.
7. Paul’s 100th birthday!
We’re celebrating on Sunday, June 16th after church, with a potluck and social time. All are invited. Sign up sheet in Mitchell Hall.
Parish Cycle of Prayer:
Throughout the month of June, we lift up those who will attend General Synod in July, for their wisdom and discernment and for faithful witness:
We pray for our Delegates: Bishop Chris, Archdeacon Ken, Dean Scott, Ruth, Chris and Alexa.
Prayer:
Lord, you have called us by name and given us gifts to love and serve in your Name. We ask you to be present with all delegates to General Synod.
Direct, govern and guide them by your Holy Spirit as they seek to fulfill your holy will in all things. Give them the mind of Christ, who loved us and gave himself for us. Amen.
In our parish, we pray for: Darryl and Bronwen, for Marin and Kaleb, and for Brendan.
Sent faithfully, with hope and love,
The Rev. Amy
