The Season after Pentecost

Dear St. Stephen’s Church family and friends,

Some news from the parish family: Barry H became a great grandfather! And blessings and congratulations to Linda W, who is celebrating her son’s marriage.  Also, Faith I, wife to Kingsley, became a Canadian citizen on July 1st! And finally Chinemerem turned 10 last week–we shared his birthday cake last Sunday. Congratulations to all, and many blessings!

Vacation Bible School at St. Stephen’s: July 28th-August 1st, from 6-8 pm. The theme is Hometown Nazareth! We have scheduled a meeting for all volunteers on Thursday, July 17th at 7 pm. Please plan to attend if at all possible! We will go through the weekly bible stories, plans for crafts, games and snacks and pray for all of the campers and volunteers. Please register any children who are planning to attend as soon as you can.

The Malayalam congregation enjoyed a day together at Black Strap last Saturday, and the children practiced their latest songs and recorded them on Sunday evening.

Machot celebrated his first Canada Day in our backyard. Please keep him in your prayers as he moves into the 4th month of being in Canada.

This afternoon the Camp Okema Open House is taking place ( I was unable to attend because of Diocesan Council). But tomorrow afternoon I head up to camp to be the Chaplain for Cabin Leader Training for the week. Please keep Camp Okema in your prayers, for all campers, staff (and chaplains!).

Father Dan celebrated communion at St. Alban’s Cathedral in Prince Albert last Sunday. Dan has been helping out in different ways and in different parishes in our Diocese and beyond. We are grateful for his gentle and prayerful presence here with us at St. Stephen’s (and for the Thursday 4:30 Book of Common Prayer Eucharist). Dan also serves at St. Stephen’s Merrill in the summer months and is the Anglican hospital chaplain in Saskatoon. If you find yourself in the hospital you must let the staff know that you would like a visit from a chaplain and Father Dan will be alerted to your presence there. Otherwise you can let me know and I can pass the message along. We are blessed to have him doing this important work in the Diocese.

Parish Cycle of Prayer
Monday:
for the ministry of Camp Okema–for all campers, staff and volunteers. For me (Amy) and all the cabin leaders this coming week (including Gracie and Ava), that they may hear and receive the message of God’s love in Jesus and share it with others.
Tuesday: for our Malayalam congregation–for Rev Sunil and Sabitha and family
Wednesday: for Cindy B
Thursday: for Jackie B
Friday: for Gary and Alice

In Christ’s peace,

Rev Amy <><

Go and find Jesus where your patience and strength give out and you feel alone and helpless. He is waiting for you. Say to him, “Jesus, you know exactly what is going on. You are all I have, and you know all. Come to my help.” And then go and don’t worry about how you are going to manage. That you have told God about it is enough. God has a good memory.
