The first week of July
Dear St. Stephen’s church family,
Grace and peace to you in our Lord Jesus Christ!
I hope that everybody had a safe and restful long weekend. We are truly blessed to live in Canada. Let us remember that every good and perfect gift comes from above (James 1:17). Here’s a prayer for our country:
Almighty God, whose wisdom and whose love are over all, accept the prayers we offer for our nation. Give integrity to its citizens and wisdom to those in authority, that harmony and justice may be secured in obedience to your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Some parish news:
1. ReFresh
The weekend is upon us! We are painting the stucco on the church. Please consider coming and spend a few hours on Friday or Saturday to get this project completed! We’re starting at 9:30 on both days. ** (There are a few small jobs that could be done Thursday, if you have time.)
2. VBS! Roar!
Next week is the big event! Children will be welcomed here to learn more about God’s love for us through Bible stories, games, snacks and crafts. If you are able to help decorate, please come on Saturday, July 6th starting at 1. Also after church on Sunday. There’s still room for children to register!
3. Friends of Nazanin Garage Sale!
Jan and team are planning a garage sale fundraiser to support a family of people who will be coming to Saskatoon as refugees, sponsored through the Diocese of Saskatoon and supported by many individuals and churches. She is inviting donations of garage sale items, clean, in good condition and ideally dropped off to the church on Friday, July 19th for the sale on Saturday, July 20th.
Parish Cycle of Prayer:
For the month of July, we keep the ministry of Camp Okema in our prayers. We pray for the board, for the leadership, and especially for all campers and cabin leaders who will spend time there this summer. May they be touched by the good news of Jesus’ great love for them, and grow more deeply in the knowledge of the love of God.
We pray for Henry and Donna, and for Gene N and their families.
Sent faithfully, hopefully and in Christ’s love,
Amy <><
