Parish News March 28th

Dear St. Stephen’s church family,

Greetings in Christ! And may each of you find joy and satisfaction in all of your labour under the sun! (Ecclesiastes 3) Some news:

1. Memorial service

Saturday, March 30th at 1 pm

for Lorna, with coffee and conversation to follow.

2. Lenten lunches

Sundays, throughout Lent, following 10:30 service

Our Lenten lunches have been a rich time of fellowship, while supporting various ministries. Thank you to all for your generosity as we raised $400+ for the Nazanin Family, and $400+ for Sam and Ann. This week’s Lenten lunch is provided by the Confirmation Class. Please plan to stay for lunch, if you are able. They are making tacos and Caesar salad. We will continue to watch ‘In the Dust of the Rabbi,’ a thought provoking video series based in the land of the Holy One. Last week’s theme was “Becoming a Counter Cultural Community.” Jesus calls us to live a life of faithful discipleship, encouraged and strengthened by one another.

3. English Language Conversation Circles

Tuesdays until June 11th

4. Special Easter music

meet for initial information after church on Sunday

The great celebration of Easter is on the horizon, and we are preparing some special music. If you are interested in playing an instrument for our Easter celebration, please meet Cathryn after church on Sunday. She will hand out music and discuss parts. If you know the part you would like to play, please email her at thewoodsies@sasktel.net

5. Ecumenical Prayer Service and Breakfast

Wednesdays at 8:15 at St. Philip Neri Church on Taylor

St. Stephen’s is hosting the Ecumenical Prayer Service and Breakfast at St. Philip Neri on Wednesday, April 3rd at 8:15. If you are able to donate a jar of jam, please bring to church on Sunday. Marje will take it to St. Philip.

6. Palm Sunday

Sunday, April 14th

We will be hosting a guest speaker, Dr. Stephen Foster, missionary physician, at the 10:30 service. We will also participate in a palm procession as we mark this holy day in the season of Lent.

Parish Cycle of Prayer:

Throughout the month of March, we pray for all in our parish and community who struggle with being unable to get out and about. We pray for all parish members who are unable to be with us to worship on Sundays because of mobility or illness. May they be strengthened and encouraged by the Holy Spirit.

In our parish, we pray for Mair and family and for Mark and Maria, with Alexandria.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him, all creatures here below.
Praise Him above the heavenly host,
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost! Amen.

Blessings and peace,

Amy <><
