Parish News March 13th

Dear St. Stephen’s church family,

Greetings in Christ!

A few notes for the week:

We just received the news that Lorna passed away this morning at her home at Extendicare. We will miss her. We give thanks to God for her life and witness, and for her presence in our church community for so many years. May she rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon her.

Lenten Quiet Day

Saturday, March 16th 10-3

Hosted by Sister Dianne Sehn OSH. She is a gifted facilitator, and will lead us through some Scripture and reflective exercises as we move through this holy season of Lent. Lunch is provided, (as long as you sign up!) If you are only able to come to the afternoon or the morning, that’s okay too. Sign up isn’t necessary if you aren’t having lunch. Please consider coming and making this a part of your Lenten journey.

Lenten Lunches

Sundays after 10:30 service

Thank you to Community Life for hosting this past Sunday. Lunch was delicious! We are showing a Ray Vander Laan video series during the lunch, called, “In the Dust of the Rabbi.” The hosting group this Sunday is the Friends of Nazanin—come and learn more about this family and join in the effort to bring them safely to Canada.  Lunch is a suggested donation of $5. Plan to stay! Additional donations gladly accepted.

English Language Conversation Circles

Tuesdays, through June 11th 6:30-8 pm

We have decided to extend the sessions until mid June, to be in rhythm with the other Saskatoon Open Door Society Conversation Circles. If you are a volunteer, please sign up for the newly available weeks. The duotang for signing up is in the office.

Confirmation

Classes and date

The big day is coming soon! Confirmation is scheduled for Sunday, May 12th, during the 10:30 service, Bishop Chris presiding. Confirmation class Friday, March 15th 6:30-8. Bring your books!!!

Parish Cycle of Prayer: Throughout March we lift up those who are unable to get out and about, parishioners who are isolated because of mobility. We pray for the Friends of St. Stephen’s and other pastoral visitors as they minister to them.

We pray for: Barry Harmon, and for Len and Mary Hart and families.

Sent faithfully, with hope and love, The Rev. Amy
