Lent

Dear St. Stephen’s church family,

Greetings in Christ!

I lift up my eyes to the hills– from where will my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. -Psalm 121:1

Wyndham and I are on our way to Prince Albert right away, to be present at the ordination to the diaconate of Perry Siddons, at St. Alban’s Cathedral at 1 pm. Several others are also planning to attend, so we will represent the St. Stephen’s family! Please keep Perry in your prayers today as he enters into this new chapter in life and ministry.

A reminder that there will be a Lenten Lunch tomorrow, following the service. Look forward to a delicious chili lunch, by donation (suggestion $10 per adult, but don’t let cost be a barrier to having lunch! Please come).

And as Christians we believe that we do not live by bread (or chili) alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Consider staying after lunch for Cathechism part 2, where we will look at questions of the identity of God, the Scriptures, creeds and sacraments! That’s a plateful of catechism. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Our Thursday evening session was very small, and so we have asked that people who might have wished to attend Thursday evenings would instead come Sunday. We will not hold Thursday evening sessions at this time.

Once again, we pose the question: Do you love to sing? What about warbling? And the invitation: Come and join the St. Stephen’s Wednesday Warblers, Wednesday mornings from 10-noon. Sing your heart out in good company, with coffee afterwards. All are welcome! No experience necessary. Talk (or sing) with Cathryn for more info.  The Wednesday Warblers will meet this coming Wednesday! Mark your calendars.

A big thank you to Alex, our Office Administrator, for compiling our Annual General Meeting report. It is attached below. Please click on the link to read. We also have paper copies available for pick up should you wish. The report is longer than the last few years, shorter than the years before! Our auditor’s report is not ready for print yet, but will be early next week. A note that at vestry last month we voted to have Alex Oster’s position become permanent and part time, 12 hours per week. Thank you to Alex for saying yes to this, and for everybody for being patient as we figured this out.

Please note our AGM will take place after church on Sunday, March 12th–starting with lunch. Sign up is helpful as we will know how much lunch to order.

If you would like to contribute financially to the work and ministry of the parish, there are several ways to do this. Envelopes for monthly or weekly giving can be obtained from Ted Markus, our envelope secretary==see his report in the AGM booklet. Ted can also set you up as an automatic monthly giver, on PAR–pre authorized giving. Finally, etransfers can be offered through the parish office: office.ststephens@sasktel.net
As you will see, our roof is in need of repair, which is a big ticket item (approximately $20000). It is helpful if offerings toward the roof are marked separately to those given in support of regular parish life.
Thank you to each person who gives of time, talent and resources to the life of our parish. We are  truly blessed. Many hands and many gifts make our work together possible.

May we never tire of seeking his mercy, or his grace, or his goodness,
In Christ,
Rev. Amy <><
